VISION FOR THE
LITTLE VISIONARIES
Did you know that children should have their first eye examination as early as 3 years old and subsequently at every 6 months? As they are developing as a person, so does their vision! It helps them to recognise family faces, familiarise different places, and cultivate learning interest from visual stimulus. Seeing clearly plays a determining role for their personal development.
Children with poor eyesight may exhibit behavior change, and it may be difficult for them to verbally explain their frustrations. Conditions such as lazy eye (amblyopia) or squint eye (strabismus) can occur in young ones, and are treated more effectively when detected early.
Color Vision or Dyslexia
Able to distinguish any of the three different types of colour blindness, this can aid in adapting your child’s learning material.

Squint or Binocular Vision
A quick run of this test will determine if your kid is using both eyes and if both eyes are working together. This can help detect any signs of strabismus, suppression or amblyopia.
Squint or Binocular Vision
Holding reading material at close distances
Squeezing their eyes when asked to look at an object or word
Tilting their head on either side constantly
Frequent rubbing of eyes
Tend to copy a friend’s work instead of the black board
Slow to finish what’s written on the board
Difficulty estimating distances
