FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION REGARDING VISIONSPACE OPTOMETRIST MALAYSIA

Our Vision Space optometry branches in Petaling Jaya, located in SS2 and Damansara Utama, are open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Both branches are closed on Sundays.

At Vision Space, our optometrists provide comprehensive eye care services, including thorough eye examinations (eye tests) to assess vision and detect potential eye health issues. We offer customized prescriptions for eyeglasses (prescription glasses), contact lenses, and fittings to ensure optimal comfort and vision clarity. Our team is skilled in identifying and managing conditions like myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia, and we provide specialized consultations for children’s vision, digital eye strain, etc. .
Additionally, we monitor for early signs of eye diseases such as cataract, glaucoma, dry eyes disease and retina and offer referrals to our eye specialist centre for more advanced treatments, if necessary. We pride ourselves on customer satisfaction and provide advice on preventative eye care, ensuring our clients receive high-quality eyewear that meets their needs.

We recommend visiting an optometrist at least once every one to two years for a routine eye exam, as regular check-ups help maintain optimal vision and detect any changes early on. However, individuals with existing vision issues, a family history of eye conditions, or chronic health concerns like diabetes may benefit from more frequent visits, as their optometrist recommends. Children, especially those in school, may also require annual vision screenings to ensure their vision supports learning and development.

Opticians are technicians who specialize in fitting and dispensing eyeglasses and contact lenses based on prescriptions provided by optometrists or ophthalmologists. They do not conduct eye exams or diagnose eye conditions. An optometrist is a healthcare professional trained to examine eyes, diagnose vision problems, and prescribe corrective lenses like glasses and contact lenses. They can detect common eye diseases and provide essential treatment or referrals. On the other hand, an ophthalmologist is a medical doctor specialising in eye and vision care, including diagnosing and treating complex eye conditions, performing eye surgeries, and prescribing medication. While optometrists focus on primary eye care and corrective solutions, ophthalmologists handle more advanced medical and surgical treatments for eye health. Understanding these differences helps ensure you receive the appropriate level of care for your eye health needs.

If your child shows signs of potential vision issues—such as squinting, sitting too close to screens, holding books very close, rubbing their eyes frequently, or complaining of headaches—they may benefit from an optometrist. Other signs include difficulties reading, poor school performance, or coordination issues during activities. Regular eye exams are recommended for children, especially before they start school, as early detection of vision problems can support their learning and development. It is recommended that children visit an optometrist for routine eye examinations every six months to facilitate early detection of any potential issues.
