Vision Space Optometrists and its team of qualified optometrists regularly conducts free eye examination for the needy.
Under the program Vision 6/6, we conduct eye examination, refurbish spectacles and donate them to the less fortunate. This is also made possible by your donations of spectacle frames that are no longer needed or used.
We provided free eye screening to 35 children at the Agathians Shelter.
“Agathians Shelter is an orphanage for boys that was founded in 2003 by a team of young adults. It was set up to save a group of children from being turned out to the street and to provide a home for them. The children are from various backgrounds; some are orphaned, some only have a single parent who can’t afford to feed them and others are either abandoned or neglected.”
That same week, with the help of KECHARA volunteer group, boys that needed further eye assessments were brought to Vision Space Optometrist’s centre at SS2.
After a thorough eye exam, we identified 5 boys who need glasses.
Refurbished frames donated by customers were shown to the boys to choose the ones they liked. They were then fitted with new prescription lenses with anti-reflection and UV protection coating sponsored by HOYA Malaysia.
The following week, the boys collected their ready glasses at Vision Space with much excitement and happiness.
Frame adjustments are done to ensure a comfortable fit for the children.
The sight of the children’s joy of finally having proper vision is priceless to us. This is made possible to all who have contributed to Vision 6/6.
